If you are looking for quick, effective fat burning, then listen carefully. It's okay to let yourself get hungry. Trying to drop those last few pounds quickly can be difficult (like right before a vacation). Avoiding snacking during those times of hunger means you're letting your body burn some of it's reserves-otherwise known as fat.

Old-school thinking meant that dieting equaled hunger pains. Then, new ideas came out that suggested it was better to eat small meals all throughout the day. In theory, this kept your metabolism running at a higher rate. Unfortunately, this doesn't work very well for most people.

Do Smaller Meals Work For You?

I have to tell you, this does not work for me. No matter how I try this "6 small meals" plan, it never makes me leaner. The problem with having six small meals per day is that your body constantly has some food to burn. Your body never has to go into its reserves (body fat) to get energy. Any exercise or activity simply burns the food calories you're taking in

Eat More Like a Kid?

Kids seem to be able to go all day, playing hard, without getting hungry. Keeping so busy, having so much fun, almost makes you forget about eating. Until you stopped! Then you would be starving, but you'd still only eat what you needed. Active kids usually look lean and healthy. Think about eating like a kid does!

"My Metabolism Isn't What It Used To Be"

In general, kids don't eat as often as adults. Well, I should specify healthy kids. Those who sit with video games and the Internet become obese, but those active kids stay lean and healthy. Staying indoors near food means you will eat more. Adults who are stuck behind a desk all day, or work near food, are not likely to burn body fat very easily. Keeping yourself away from extra food, getting hungry occasionally, can be very good for your metabolism.

Getting Hungry Can Mean Getting Lean

Our bodies really don't require a never-ending supply of food. Not that you should exactly starve yourself, but getting hungry is not always bad. When your body gets hungry, it starts to burn its reserve energy (body fat) and you will get leaner. You will see more visible results more quickly. Being a little hungry before a hard cardio workout will also increase your fat burning capabilities. If you want to get lean, get a little hungry!
